Mojacar
If you are one of the many people considering relocating
from the UK to Spain and perhaps still undecided about the
area where you would like to settle, you may well find Mojacar
worthy of consideration.
Naturally your final choice will depend on your personal
needs and aspirations and it’s very important to consider
these in some depth before making any final decisions or
commitments, but Mojacar could be a wise choice if you are
looking to live in an area that is still predominantly Spanish.
Answering the questions: “why do I want to live in
Spain?” and “what are my most important considerations?”
will help with selecting the right area and living environment.
Clearly the weather is a major factor and people tend not
to live in Spain if they hate the sunshine! Or perhaps the
compromise might be to consider Northern Spain where the
seasons are more extreme in terms of temperature change
and rainfall.
Here in Mojacar the sun shines more than anywhere else
in Spain, typically an average of 3000 hours per year and
the average temperature is 21° C. If sunshine and a
fairly moderate temperature change (it can get chilly early
late year) is a high priority for you, the Mojacar area
might well tick all your boxes.
Putting the weather aside, Mojacar and the surrounding
area is, in our opinion, a fabulous place from where to
enjoy a new relaxed life-style.
The beaches, and there are about 17km of them, are generally
sandy, very well kept, and because they are plentiful, never
appear over crowded!
If you enjoy dining out, Mojacar and the neighbouring towns
and villages have a wide and diverse selection of restaurants,
which cater for all tastes and budgets. You really can be
spoilt for choice!
Compared to many of the more commercialised Spanish costal
resorts, Mojacar is relatively quiet and remains very popular
with the Spanish both for holidays and permanent residence.
Overall, we feel that Mojacar and the surrounding area are
highly desirable for living the relaxed and healthy lifestyle
you might just be aspiring to. If you are looking for holiday

Whatever reasons you have for wanting to live in Spain
and no matter how many
sunny holidays you have enjoyed over here, the fact remains
that until you have physically made the move and lived here
you won’t really know if it’s for you.
This is why we strongly advise our clients not to buy a
property straight away not until you are 100% sure that
living here is for you and you have allowed yourself ample
time to find the ideal home and most importantly the most
suitable location.
If you have sold your property in the UK and as a consequence
you are a cash buyer, your position is strong and currently
most of Spain is a buyers market for property.
Looking for a holiday home in Mojacar?
If you are looking for a holiday home that you can rent out,
it is sound advice to speak to local rental agent beforehand.
Not every property is rentable, and although estate agents
would have you believe that you can make stacks of cash with
holiday rentals (obviously because they want to make a sale),
this is not always the case. Many considerations should be
given regarding location, facilities, distance to the beach
etc. and we are always on hand to give unbiased advice if
needed. Once you have made the purchase of your holiday home,
we can offer an excellent all round property
management service, as well as with bookings for your
holiday or long term rentals.
Whatever your reasons for buying, we urge you not to get
talked into buying something when you aren’t too familiar
with the location and haven’t given yourself time
to view a good selection of properties in different locations.
Some property agents may pressure sell in order to close
the sale and in order to do so will make claims that may
well be exaggerated or untrue!
Long Term rentals Mojacar
Taking a long term rental in Mojacar for
say 6 to 12-months, will give you the time to meet with
the agents and seek out those that operate ethically and
professionally and that you can therefore trust.
Long term rentals in Mojacar are far less expensive than
the UK, and don’t be put off by the holiday let prices
as there are property owners here who would much prefer
to rent their apartment or villa long-term and charge a
consistent monthly amount. Typically these long term lets
will range from 6-11 months and you can rent a decent two
bed apartment from 350 euros per month or a three bed inland
villa from 500 euros.
If you need a place to rent long term, email us with your
requirements and timescales and we’ll do our utmost
to find a suitable property.
